Due to the increase in older people in the municipality of Hermosillo (Uniradio Noticias, 2017), better public policies are being implemented that contribute to a better quality of life. It is estimated that by 2050, 25% of the population of this city will be 60 years old or older; this change is due to the fact that the birth rate is declining while life expectancy continues to increase.

In Sonora there are 110,000 older adults who are registered with the INAPAM card, which gives them discounts at pharmacies and supermarkets.
