In Campeche there are 67,879 elderly people, which represent 8.2% of the population of this state; 50.3% of these people are men and 49.6% are women. 74.3% of the population lives in an urban area while 25.7% lives in a rural area.
The Ministry of Health, in coordination with the government of the state of Campeche, implemented the "Adult and Elderly" program, with the aim of protecting health by preventing diabetes, high blood pressure and different heart diseases, as well as raising their quality of life. .
In 2008, the UNEME for Chronic Diseases was inaugurated, which has the institutional care model to care for people with different ailments, granting them comprehensive, interdisciplinary management based on scientific evidence.

In 2019 in Acámbaro, Guanajuato, a physical rehabilitation area for older adults was delivered in the Gerontological Center with an investment of 88,000 pesos, thanks to projects such as this that improve the quality of life of older people. These Gerontological Centers make older people feel comfortable and happier, as Alfonso Ortiz Moreno, a beneficiary of one of these Gerontological Centers, said "I am happy here because I see that they love me", these centers are also improving the physical and mental health of this people.
